My Bio

Posted - February 2005

Hi ya’l, Here are just a few things new in my life since I graduated from Sunnyvale High. I graduated from BYU with a Bachelors in Industrial Design Engineering and I have been working for Smith Megadiamond, part of Smith International, for 30 years. I have a number of patents that are related to the oil field. I met my wife a BYU and we have one daughter who is now married. We just built a home in Salem, Utah and it is home to us, one dog, two cats, two horses and grandma. I have been doing volunteer service with Spanish Fork City Ambulance for 27 years and the Utah County Sheriff Search and Rescue for 25 years. I have been on over 2000 ambulance runs and more than 2400 search and rescue missions. Last year I was awarded a Utah Points of Light Award for volunteer service and last week I found out I have been picked for a Presidential Points of Light Award that is to be awarded February 25. I enjoy the volunteer community service and yes, I have a very understanding wife. Since I started doing search and rescue I have acquired some new hobbies, like Advanced Open Water Scuba, Swift Water Rescue, Mountain Rescue, Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician, Ham Radio, plus I have a K-9 that my wife and I have trained for SAR. The dog is a Bouvior de Flanders and she is my third SAR dog. Since I am a boy at heart, I have all the toys you “need” to do SAR, an H2 Hummer, a Scat II hovercraft, a long track snowmobile, a 3-person jetski, a large raft, and I had an ATV until it was destroyed during SAR training. All of those “toys” are setup with radios, GPS, computers…yes…those boy kinds of things. I am looking forward to a reunion if I can get out California way this year. See ya’
