Went to UCB after high school, and due to family events was on my own shortly thereafter. I was a professional student for awhile and really enjoyed an extended meandering college career experience, also eventually got over being really shy. Fell in love with film and film production and eventually worked briefly in the film/tv industry and quickly became disillusioned. I also fell in love with skiing becoming a bit of a ski bum. I have had a season pass at squaw since 1978 and among other things got into construction to support my habit. First in custom residential, became a general contractor, then when interest rates went sky high around 1980 I went to work for a developer in commercial construction. I met an intelligent beautiful young woman in the tram at Squaw, fell in love and got married in 1983. She was fresh out of Stanford and starting a serious yuppie career. I went to work in 89 at Applied Materials doing facilities/construction
management. I got to work around the interesting science high tech in a lab/fab, and at high
adrenaline pace as the company just boomed through the 90's into the next century. Left the company probably a few years late in 2003. The difficult marriage came to an end in 1998, unfortunately sans children that I always assumed I would have. Never had any real desire to travel or venture much from California but managed to have some great trips to Madrid, Paris/Versailles, Kalalau trail Hawaii, Tahiti/Bora Bora,
Taiwan, Japan, Banff/Lake Louise, Alaskan northern lights/Talkeetna-landing near
Denali at the top of a glacier, and the Salt Lake Olympics. Besides still skiing I've always stayed active, 80's mountain biking & windsurfing, run marathons, some rock climbing, cross country skiing, and more recently as we age and many friends knees are restricted use only, road biking, some yoga to keep on enjoying life for the next 30 years.
